I have duplicate points, same N,E,Z,D with different pt. numbers. Is there a utility that will remove/deleate the duplicates?

Thanks in advance!!!:D

You can manually delete the duplicates or remove them all, and reimport them. When you import them you get choices of how to deal with duplicate points.

From the Civil 3D help file:

Resolution

Specifies how the point number conflict is resolved:

  • Add An Offset: Adds the offset specified for the Add An Offset From option to the source point number. For example, if you enter an offset of 200, source points with numbers 1, 2, and 3 are re-numbered 201, 202, and 203.
  • Merge: Overwrites point data that exists in the destination point with data that exists in the source point and preserves data in the destination point that is not supplied by the source point.
  • Overwrite: Overwrites the destination point.
  • Sequence From: Begins renumbering the source points using the point number specified in the Sequence From option.
  • Use Next Point Number: Assigns the next unused point number to the point.

Add An Offset From Specifies the offset to be added to the source point number when the Resolution is set to Add An Offset. Enter an integer.

Sequence From Specifies the starting sequence number for renumbering the source points when the Resolution is set to Sequence From. Enter an integer.

Apply To All Duplicate Point Numbers Specifies that the Resolution setting is applied to any additional duplicate point numbers encountered by the command. If a duplicate point number occurs that cannot be resolved based on the Resolution setting, this dialog box displays again.

Oh wait that is if they have the same point number...

Sorry about that.

I don't know if there is a way to automatically remove duplicate points with different point numbers outside of manually removing them. If the ones you wish to remove have the same description you could create a point group and then delete the ones in that point group.

I have not noticed an option that reviews N,E,Z,D

Everything I've used is based on point numbers

I think it best to group your points so that you can remove the additional ones that you don't need, if possible.

or search for a lisp of sorts that might do it. Just be careful not to remove the points you need for your model or plans.

It's 2900 points I'm dealing with. Some are in 4 times. I need a lisp or 3rd party software. Have you found anything in the past that works?

Can't say I have, but then I haven't needed to. It is rare to see that many duplicate points.

Is the file small enough to upload here? If so pack it up and upload it or email. You could also just export the points to a txt point file for analysis.

I'm guessing someone imported the same point file multiple times giving it a number offset or something. If you group your points by number (ie - 1-100, 1000-11000, etc.) would they group based on these multiple sets of points?
