Which is better Microsoft Windows 8 Pro, 7 or XP pro

Thinking about making the switch. Which one is better? I am still running XP Pr and I still dont have any issues except that I cant get all the performance out of the memory and CPU I am running....ya'll know the deal. So...which one would you upgrade to?

I would highly recommend Win7 Pro or Ultimate.

W7 if you want a similar interface.

 

W8 if you want the newest with a new interface to learn (albeit it is a small learning curve), I am not having any problems with W8 but it is not supported by Autodesk yet and with your older software it might not work. I haven't tested it but AutoCad 2013 feels faster on W8. I have those installed on a 5 year old laptop and it works really well so far.

I installed Windows 8 and believed it was the greatest thing since copy and paste, until I started to get frustrated with it.

 

No start menu,

Finding programs you previously had in the start menu can be a pain.

Windows never actually close, they remain in the top left had corner and it's a pain to close them then re-close them.

Email set up is rubbish.

Apps are limited and just thrown together.

Every corner of the screen has a different function and can be confusing trying to customize.

 

Don't get me wrong. It looks and feels good and smooth to use. It has a pain in the ass of a learning curve for pc use.

It's more tablet based.

 

I no longer have it, re-installed Win 7 and won't go back.

Go Win8 if you are going to use a touch screen. If not then go Win7. Looks like a few already said this so add my vote in.

Well considering I only use this porn machine for CAD, Email, and internet it shouldnt be a problem.....as long as I can access my "file Explorer" (which I know it isn't called that any longer) I will be happy. I just wanted to be able to speed my machine up for my AutoCAD programs.....and of course for porn!!

Well according to the Windows 8 compatibility wizard the only thing I would have to do is update my video driver and re-install my Autodesk 2007 & 2010 products. It APPEARS everything else will work.

I downloaded mine direct from Microsoft, they sent the cd out weeks later.

W8 is looking good to me so far, I watched a 5 min video on youtube to learn something about it. Not a problem to use on a laptop at all,there is a start menu since the whole interface is called start. You can type anytime to find programs, just type cal and calculator is found, etc. Any program can be closed with alt+f4 or drag to bottom of the screen and release. And going to desktop everything is exactly the same as W7.
