Dave Ce Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Hello, i have a problem with creating faces on a complex sheet metal structure, sketch doctor says: Open loop found in this profile. Use Close Loop or use Edit Sketch and project geometry, add sketch geometry, and/or drag the loop endpoints to close the loop. Can anyone help me with this ? Quote
JD Mather Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Inventor is not AutoCAD. You have unconstrained sketches. Unless you changed color properties you have sick (pink) geometry. Attach your ipt file here. Quote
Bishop Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 It also looks like you're going through WAY too much effort with all the work planes. Like JD always says - be lazy when you do this stuff. Quote
Dave Ce Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 thanks for your reply, here's the ipt. karkas kap.ipt Quote
Dave Ce Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 it should become a hood for my baler like this: Quote
JD Mather Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 (edited) I don't have time to fix it right now - but that is pretty much a disaster right from the start (Sketch1 unconstrained). I think we can work out a very simple solution (check back). In the meantime you might want to read this (use symmetry about the origin) http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/SkillsUSA%20University.pdf I suspect my solution will have one (1) user created workplane. The rest will be on origin planes. See attached file - done in student version, so examine and then delete. karkas kap_jd_rev1.ipt Edited December 22, 2012 by JD Mather Quote
Dave Ce Posted December 22, 2012 Author Posted December 22, 2012 Perfect, that's just how i wanted it thanks a lot. I guess i have much to learn with the sheet metal function.. Quote
