byk3bep Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 I have a 3D model that consists of a large number of "small" objects that i created earlier in separate files. The problem is that now my model is 50Mb and I am having trouble working with it. Is there a way of reducing size, or is there any other solution that would not change the geometry of my model? Working with Intel Quad Core, 6Gb of ram and ATI Radeon HD3800... Thx for your time and help. Quote
ReMark Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 You could subdivide the drawing into multiple drawings, choose which will be the "master" and xref the others. You can try purging the drawing after which I would recommend doing an audit to check for errors. 6GB of ram and a 50MB drawing? Sounds like a recipe for frustration. If your files typically get this large I would seriously consider upping the amount of ram. Quote
Dadgad Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 You could also use the WBLOCK command to turn them into blocks, after which you could use the EXPRESS tool, BLOCKTOXREF which will magically alter the blocks which you have created in your drawing so that they are XREFed into your current drawing. Having them XREFed in should greatly reduce your file size. As ReMark pointed out Purging and Auditing are good ideas too. Quote
Manila Wolf Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 If you don't mind removing the history of all the solids in the dwg, you could try the BREP command. Quote
