ankurpraja Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Hello Eveyone, Can anyone tell me if it is possible to export a inventor model to staad pro? if possible please let me know how to do it? Thanks, Ankurpraja Quote
ankurpraja Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Maybe i didnt explained very well so i will explain it in detail. Our engineers has to do structural analysis of a 'derrick' on Bentely's Staad Pro. It is a very complex structure and will take ages to do it on staad pro. So we are thinking to model it on other softwares and then import it on Staad for further analysis. It is very easy and fast to do this kind of model on inventor. But the problem is that there is no way to import inventor model on staad. I tried to do the same thing on Revit but even Revit don't have link to Staad. So I searched and installed an Add-In called SI exchange on Revit and then it was possible to export the revit file to staad. The problem is that i don't know to use revit. I tried to learn it but it is not even somewhere close to frame generator of inventor. So instead of wasting my time to learn revit its better to find a way to import inventor model to revit and then from revit to staad. Hope to have a solution, Ankur Prajapati Quote
JD Mather Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 What format does Staad Pro import. Nearly any program in this field that I am aware of will import a *.stp, *.igs, *.dwg, *.dxf or *.sat Simply save in one of those formats and find out what format Staad Pro will import. Doesn't Staad Pro have a user forum for support? http://communities.bentley.com/products/structural/structural_analysis___design/f/5932.aspx Quote
