Squirrel Cottage Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Hi Team Happy new year toyou all. My AutoCAD 2012 freezes every time when I do hatching. It doesnt matterthe size of the drawing nor the type of hatch I use. Any idea what could be theissue? Alan Quote
hugha Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 No idea. Try excluding all your custom hatches from the search path to see if the problem lies in your drawing/template or in a hatch definition. Quote
rkmcswain Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) What if you set HPDLGMODE = 1 and try again? Edited January 3, 2013 by rkmcswain typo Quote
irneb Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 What if you set HPDLGMODE = 1 and try again?+1, the ribbon's "auto" hatching as the cursor moves freezes my 2013 as well - it has to calculate the hatch for every minor movement of the mouse. And since ADesk hasn't updated the 20+ year old hatch algorithms - they're not meant for these on-the-fly hatching. If you do want the point-n-click ribbon's hatching, then be sure to set your default hatch to as simple a pattern as possible (e.g. lines spaced far apart). Then after placing the hatch, select it and change the pattern through Ribbon / Properties Palette / HatchEdit. That's what I tended to do before I was shown the HPDlgMode system variable. Quote
ammobake Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Does autocad crash when you select/click on a hatch also? That was happening to me with Architecture 2008 a few weeks ago (I couldn't hatch or even select a hatch). I also could not draw any 3d solids for some reason without autocad instantly crashing. There are a couple things that I've heard regarding autocad hatch issues.. First, I've heard if you use a program that scans for registry issues/errors you can sometimes inadvertantly delete/remove certain autocad content or DLL files from the registry that are necessary for the hatch process to operate properly. The easiest way to fix the issue (if you've tried all other avenues) is to reinstall Autocad. If, for example, certain DLL files are causing autocad to crash (It is sometimes mentioned in the error message) you might try to copy and paste it from a different computer - if you have access to a co-worker's computer or a different machine with Autocad 2012 installed. You would need to make sure the path you've selected for pasting the file is identical to the path you're copying from (so Autocad can find the new DLL or other file). The only time I would try this though is if I knew what DLL or missing file was causing the crashes (meaning it is mentioned in the error message) and if I knew exactly where it needed to be pasted to - which would require a separate machine with an error-free Autocad 2012 installed. Also, I was once told that hatch pattern issues can be caused by "ObjectARX Applications" issues - Under Options>Open and Save (TAB)>ObjectARX Applications Some people accidentally change the option from the dropdown menu and I guess it can affect how the graphics are loaded and/or displayed. Typically, you want to select "Object detect and command invoke" from the dropdown menu (which I believe is the default anyway). Under "Proxy images for custom objects" I use "Do not show proxy graphics" and everything works great for me (without the box checked below that). Not sure if this will help at all. -ChriS Quote
