I was discussing this with a friend in the US and we noticed something strange and we are not sure of the cause. In AutoCAD 2012 when the File Open Dialog Box is displayed there is a drop down option list called Views and the option at the bottom is Preview. That's the same in both the English and German versions of AutoCAD, other than in German its called Vorschau. When the option is ticked (checked) a preview is displayed, if it is not ticked then no preview is displayed.

In AutoCAD 2013 this option for Preview does not exist because the Preview is always there.

OK, how do you see this in your version of AutoCAD 2013. Who sees the preview and who not?

Or, is there a setting somewhere that controls the visibility of the preview. I don't know, but I would like to know.

I know it is nearly 11am over there (I think because you say your from Germany) but we are sleeping over here....LOL

I dont have a solution to your problem... Just wish I was over there in the UK next to you!! Been doing a lot of studying and found out my family come from Scotland in 1736. Of course this is not unusual, because of the migration from that time period but since I learned my xxxxgrandfather landed on the shore of North Carolina I would like to know more about where he was raised.

Dont ever think you have to move to the USA for a better life....I would give up everything (except my guns) to live over there. Now that my kids have grown I would love to cross that big pond

One more thing...I have been reading you have a new woman in charge over there that is changing the world. I think that is great. Sorry cant remember her name...but I think she is the best thing to hit Europe..IMO..(of course I have been Just been reading about her so you may have a different opinion with you living there....

Taylor if originate from Scotland then research your surname to see which Clan you belong to and then get your Coat of Arms and Plaid.

On my home system, using AutoCAD 2013, I do not have a preview of my drawing yet on my work system I do. Strange.

BDesign: Are you referring to Angela Merkle the Chancellor of Germany? Before coming to politics she was a chemist I believe.

Strong German women. Yeah. My grandmother, on my mother's side, was German. Nobody told her what to do! Strong, independent and smart. During WWII she was a welder.

Update

MSasu: Thank you for that link. I reset the hexadecimal value (in the Registry) from 0 to 1 as suggested and now I have a preview of my drawing. You da man! Thanks ever so much.

The Registry key in question is this one...

KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R19.0\ACAD-B001:409\Profiles\your profile\Dialogs\Select File - PreviewVisible = 1

I have, without going into a bunch of details the clan is from upper Scotland and the first documentation of them was in 1430's
