cjkemner Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Hello, Version Auto Cad 2013, I work with a laptop docking station and dual monitors most of the time. I have disconnected, now mobile, and my command line does not appear? I have already tried Ctl-9, It asks me if I would like to shut off the command line. I also can see the command as typed in a box that does pop up with the commands in alphabetical order and I am able to scroll/tab through it. It is just not showing up as it typically would? Seems as if it's there, but not showing? Does this have anything to do with the un-docking and dual monitor setup? Any help would be much appreciated! Quote
Tyke Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Try connecting your dual monitor again, it is possible that the command line is displayed where the dual monitor should be. If it is on the dual monitor move it onto the laptop screen and close AutoCAD from the menu. It should then be on the laptop screen when AutoCAD is started. Quote
cjkemner Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Thank you I will try it tomorrow when I get back to the docking station. It is weird, because I have everything else at it's location. My buttons for polar tracking, ortho, snaps etc. are all there. Coordinates are there, model layout tabs are there. I thought I dragged everything back to my home screen before shutting down. We'll see in the AM. Your help is much appreciated!! Quote
irneb Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Swapping between dual and single always cause these unexpected hassles. What you could try in the future is to create a workspace for each - then you should be able to swap workspaces depending on how many / what resolution screens you have at the time. This should alleviate such issues. Quote
cjkemner Posted January 15, 2013 Author Posted January 15, 2013 Thank you! The individual workspaces sounds like a great idea. Quote
irneb Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Thank you! The individual workspaces sounds like a great idea.Yep, I generally use them to allow for different screen resolutions (laptop @ 1366x768, destop screen @ 1920x1080, projector when I'm showing the staff @ 1024x768 ). The usual issue I have is that toolbars disappear or the ribbon becomes too condensed or palettes take up too much screen space on small screens. Thus I've got a workspace for each where I set it as optimal as I can - though that's difficult with the low res screens. Wish I had at least my old laptop's res @ 1400x900 - just didn't want to dish out the cash, since I went for ram / gpu / cpu upgrades instead. If I'd had just a bit more budget I'd probably have gone for a SSD to speed things up even more, before I went with a larger screen. Unfortunately a larger screen on a laptop usually means less battery life, so that was the clincher for me. Quote
welldriller Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 cjkemner: I think that your command line is there but it is to low for you to see. I have had that problem before and to fix it I moved the page up by putting the pointer on the bottom of the blue at the top and scroll up slowly. Hope that will help. welldriller Quote
