FisherGroup Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Hello, My first post so bear with me. I am trying to use data extraction and create a custom schedule to look like this: But I cant get anything but the standard autocad schedule. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks Quote
tzframpton Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 At the end of the Data Extraction wizard, just select the Table Style that you need and it will inherit the "look" that you're after. Quote
FisherGroup Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 I select the table style that I created but i still get the standard table? Oh by the way Im on Autocad Architecture 2008. Thanks Quote
tzframpton Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Oh, if you're using ACA then why not use the AEC Schedules instead? Quote
FisherGroup Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 When I use schedule I select the three blocks shown and all I get in the schedule are the headers ie: no quantity count or equipment number(the number in the oval) I dont have any experience with schedules so that is why i was trying to use data extraction. Thanks Quote
tzframpton Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Select the Table, right-click, select "Edit Schedule Table Style". Under the Columns tab, select the column you need and check the "Include Quantity Column". OK when done. Now select the Table again and select "Add All Property Sets". This will give you what you need. *EDIT* I would highly suggest using AEC Schedules instead of Data Extraction. They are dynamic, for one, and much more powerful. Quote
FisherGroup Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Thanks for the help, I will play with the schedule feautre and try to work with that. Thanks again. Quote
tzframpton Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Have you ever ventured off into the Style Manager? This is where the AEC Schedules reside, for you to make changes and edit them as needed. This way you can enable or disable "what" the Schedule will be picking up in your drawing. If you're using standard blocks then there's an option for that. If you're using any ACA objects, then AEC Schedules are the only way to go for scheduling (literally). Data Extraction method is nice for plain AutoCAD users but has many drawbacks. Just thought I'd throw more info out there for you. Come back with any more questions or issues you may have. Quote
FisherGroup Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Ive been working with style manager and have created a new schedule table style. Working with standard (and dynamic) blocks. When I am in the applies to tab with everything unselected my table style shows up in the classifications column. When I chech the block reference in the applies to area my table style disapears in the classification column. I am fairly new to working with this, maybe you know of a good book to guide me through this as I would like to master this for work (job security you know lol). Thanks Quote
tzframpton Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Don't know of any books that pertain specifically to ACA. I just know ACA AEC Objects through my experiences with AMEP, which is built off the ACA core. I'm sure Amazon.com or Half.com would yield you some good results. Just keep active in this forum and others and you'll begin to gain all the knowledge you need. Quote
