KarolR Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I used the Remove Face command and it left the solid without a volume. I cannot use the replace face command because there isn't any volume, even after i completed the missing faces with The Boundary Patch command. How to complete the solid again? I know there is the Heal option in the Remove Face command, but i want to learn to do it outside. Move Face.ipt Quote
JD Mather Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 There is no "Remove Face" command in my version, maybe this is a language translation problem. Are you using an English language version of Inventor? Try the Stitch command and select the two surface bodies to stitch back into a solid body. Quote
KarolR Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 This is version 2009, and it's called Delete face, but i will try the Stitch command. Quote

KarolR Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 I used the Stitch command and afterwards the Replace Face command on the new created solid and it succeeded. I ask what is a quilt, it's written in the help, since with the stitch command, i combined a 3D surface with ordinary solid faces, to create a solid Quote
JD Mather Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 ....i combined a 3D surface with ordinary solid faces, to create a solid I don't think so. Can you attach file that proves this? When you did a Delete Face you no longer had an "ordinary solid faces" - if you look in the browser you should see a folder that says Surface Bodies, not Solid Bodies. A quilt is several surface bodies stitched together. When you delete a face from a solid you are left with a quilt (several sitched surfaces) or when you stitch several surface together that do not for a watertight volume you get a quilt (surface body) rather than a solid. KarolR Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 I don't see no surface bodies, no solid bodies folder in the file attached. And the Replace command worked, so i guessed it works only on solids. Ans also, after the Stitch command it looked as a solid, all grey. Move Face.ipt Quote

I forgot you are using a 4-yr old release, much has changed. In any case, don't be fooled be color. All grey does not mean it is a solid. It is solid when the part has volume (iProperties) and you can use solid editing tools. (it was all grey when you did Delete Face, but not a solid) Quote
