Siberian Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 You know that small window that pops up when you hover the crosshair over an object? It displays color, layer, and linetype for regular objects. I was wondering if it's possible to somehow change what is displayed in this window? Quote
Dana W Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 I believe Siberian is refering to the Rollover Tooltips. The only change you can make to that window is to turn it off or on. The system variable rollovertips = 1 will show the window, rollovertips = 0 turns it off. Also, on your options dialog display tab, check or uncheck Show Rollover Tooltips. On that dialog, you can also control certain aspects of the tooltips that show for your buttons and toolbar options. Quote
Dadgad Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) My guess is that you are describing the HOVER TOOLTIPS, rather than the QUICK PROPERTIES (which I swear by and would be lost without). I have customized all object types on both of those functions on my system. The choices for the HOVER TOOLTIPS aren't as comprehensive as they are for Quick Properties, but they too can be customized. Yes, as rkent mentioned you do this through the CUI. Dana got the name right, ROLLOVER TOOLTIPS, and it may not be an option in LT, but in Vanilla you can customize it, (sorry Dana, I know how bummed you get every time you find out something else that LT won't do) as shown in the image, based on the entity type. Quick Properties does about the same thing, with many more choices, and the option to directly change any of those properties which you have chosen to display in the palette, but they do not display when hovering, only when an object is selected. In the quick properties palette image, you can see those values which I have specified that I want to be displayed when I click on a leader, they are editable directly on that QP palette. When dimensioning I like to have lots of information available in my QP palette, as shown in the other image, it makes it easy to tweak on the fly. You can customize it to show as much or as little information, for each object type as you want. You can also customize location and other display options for the palette itself. These are the reasons why I prefer QP to regular PROPERTIES, which often displays information which is of little consequence to me in my work, wasting time and energy, as I need to sort through ALL of the information every time. The Quick Properties palette is a perfect custom fit for how I work. It displays exactly what I want to see, nothing more, nothing less. Edited February 4, 2013 by Dadgad Quote
