Hello I have an OS question..basically I have been creating planning application docs for water pumping stations at my work. I download OS maps through the correct channels, they are in dwg format, and are usually a 100 X 100 M grid with eastings and northings around it.

My question is - how do I match up the OS grid to Autocad grid? (So i can take coords from this map) I usually move the whole map from a basepoint, to an x + y which is shown on the map itself- but when I ID another point it does not match what OS says it should be. I think i must be being stupid but i cant work it out!

Any help gratefully recieved - from a newbie to cadtutor :)

Hi Miss Yates

Welcome to Cadtutor.

What are your Units set at, are you using mm's as your Units. Eastings and Northings are usually in metres ie 215.556,143,555, if your Units are set to mm you will be getting the wrong information.

All the OS maps that I download are coordinate correct (in metre units), so no moving about is necessary. Just zoom extents, and there you are :D

Just remember that sometimes the coordinates around the edge may be partly truncated.

Thanks for your replies! I think I was being an idiot - I have to copy them into other drawing models - I was only copying with the co-ords shown around the edge of the OS..but these are rounded up! I ID'd the base point and got a more accurate base copy :)

Thanks though! :):)
