Currahee Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Just installed my into my old Windows 8 home built CAD Station a new 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti graphics card plus 2 new 24" Acer Monitors; 1-H243H, 1-V243H. I first done a benchmark with my old LG 24" and my old 19" and my old 512 mb NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT. The combined score of video and cpu on old was 1,800. Then installed new equipment into old machine with same 4g of ram and HD and the benchmark score was 14,000 Yes, you read that right; I too had to benchmark it again to see if it was a quirk. WOW:winner: BTW..I know you are going to ask...I am using 3D VANTAGE Benchmark Quote
Mike_Taylor Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm glad to hear its working well, I'm thinking of getting myself the 690 for at home, just upgraded that machine to 32GB of ram, duel booting SSD's (one for OS and one for some games/software), 14 seconds from cold shut down to me running software (plus typing in my 22 character password). Hadnt checked my start-up time on the Win 8 but I would probably bet it is, at the very least, double that!! Edited February 6, 2013 by Currahee Quote

tzframpton Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I believe it... A 9500GT is old news. Glad you got the upgrade. I'm needing to upgrade myself.... so the decision is..... build the new outdoor patio & bar, or build the new computer. Hmmmmmmmm.... decisions, decisions. If it were up to the wife to decide, she'd say neither and just let her have the money so she can have a shopping spree. Quote

If it were up to the wife to decide, she'd say neither and just let her have the money so she can have a shopping spree. I will tell you how I accumulate the money to build mine. I hoard away a couple hundred dollars at a time and buy components. No wife in this world are going to let you spend $3-4,000.00 on "Just a computer".!!! So like this past week I spent $400.00 on my new components after we had just got back from a weekend away for a romantic trip to the mountains. I told her I put it all on my CC and would take care of it. So, for the next few months she is not going to bother looking at the receipts on my business CC bills. Next is 32g ram, power supply and a new tower. But you see, (I am saving all my old components and use them to tell her I built her a new machine). Now she doesnt have to dock her laptop to her desk everyday...LOL:twisted: Quote

Here we have all of our libraries that are typically on the C drive (documents, pictures, desktop etc) re-directed to the server so boot times are a bit longer (which is why we all lock our comuters ) Quote

"Anyone got the joke here? (Hint: Think literally!)" ------------------ An American "yank", Englishman and Irishman sat down at a bar and said "set us up with three pints bartender". When they looked at their beers each noticed they each had a fly floating in them. The snobbish Yank said "I aint drinking that, give me another beer!" The Englishman said, "OH blimey, he hasn't drank that much" and flicked him out of his glass and finished off his beer The Irishman pulled the fly out with his left hand guzzled down his beer with his right. He then held the fly over his mouth and said, "Damnú ort you little cac, spit the rest of my beer out!!!" Quote

The only people in the States that calls a Coke, a Pepsi, Mt Dew, etc... a "Coke" are people like me from the Southeast of USA. Everywhere else people in the north says, "Pop", people from the west calls them "Soda". I caught that slang and thought it was funny.... Quote
