AutoCAD is graying layers out in paper space

After updating an xref, all the layers in paper space and the ones inside of the viewport have changed to various shades of gray. If we look at the layers in model space, they are correct colors. I confirmed that the colors in the layer manager have not been modified inside the viewport or outside. I am not entirely sure how this was changed nor how to have the drawing display the correct colors. Any help would be appreciated.

Some additional information is that is that this is occurring in AutoCAD LT 2011. This is on Windows 7 64 bit operating system. If additional information is needed, please let me know.

Thanks.

Welcome to CADTutor. :)

I didn't test this hypothesis, but you might want to look at the images and see if they suggest a solution.

The dialog was called up by the little wrench icon in the upper right hand corner of the Layer Properties Manager.

Might you have any layers isolated?

You might also take a look at the VISRETAIN settings described in the other image.

Since this is happening in paperspace but not modelspace it sounds likely that you paperspace has gotten set to display colours according to your plot styles.

Type PAGESETUP then click "modify." Towards the top-right of the new dialogue box should be an area that says "Plot style table (pen assignments)" with a drop-down. Below this drop-down is a tick box lalbeled "Display plot styles." Make sure this is UN-ticked, OK your way out na ddo a REGENALL, hopefully this will solve your problem.
