ittayd Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I have a block that I use as hatch (using superhatch), so the block appears several times. At the border of the hatch I want to fix some of the lines. If I try to ungroup & explode the hatch, then the block appears outside of the hatch boundry. So my question is if I can fix the lines so the hatch remains whole. Quote
dbroada Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I'm not sure what you are doing but try using BEDIT (best) or REFEDIT (ok) rather than explode. Quote
ittayd Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 i'm looking for a way to edit one reference of the block without changing the others Quote
dbroada Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 ah, no. That can't be done without either dynamic blocks or creating a new block with a different name. ALL inserted blocks are identical to the block reference. Quote
ittayd Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 can i make a reference unique (that is, clone the underlying block to a new one)? Quote
dbroada Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 again, BEDIT is your friend. Open one block in BEDIT (and please update your profile to give AutoCAD version used) and depending on you version there should be a "Save block as" button somewhere in the top left corner. This allows you to create the copy. Modify this block and then exit the editor and insert your new block. Quote
ittayd Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 But then the whole block is showing, not just the part that is in the hatch boundry. Is there a way to trim geometry within a boundary? Then I can explode the whole hatch, trim all lines outside of the boundary and edit away. Quote
dbroada Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 TBH, I don't know. I have never used superhatch so you are outside of my experience. I'll leave you alone now and hope somebody comes along to help. Quote
CyberAngel Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Off the top of my head, you might create a Wipeout or solid hatch border around the hatched area. Any portions of the superhatch block that extend outside the border would be hidden. Of course, things could get tricky if you have other objects in that area that need to be visible, so you'd have to play around with their draw order. Quote
