Thanks for the help JDM. I embarked on this endeavour just yesterday. My intent is to find or develop a software that can generate a surface model from a corridor survey to run alisp software that I have developed to design Road Alignments and get cross sections. This is something similar to what can be done with Civil 3D.

With Best Regards,

You may be re-inventing the wheel there is already a lot of free stuff out there to do surface, long and cross sections. As an ex civil software dealer if your doing this as a hobby thing good, to sell, do you know how high Mt Everist is.

If you want to be real serious you can become a registered developer from Autodesk thye supply all sorts of toolkit stuff to get inside say CIV3D.

Lastly you want to be a whiz at .NET

Thanks for your comment Bigal. I appreciate your advice. Can you let me know the free stuff already available like what JDM did. I will see whether thay suit my purpose. As explained above my intention is to move my centre line freely as in Civil 3D and get existing ground levels; not to replicate Civil 3D. Even if the wheels have been invented, to my mind nothing useful comes free. Even if you buy it, strings will be attached and you will not be able to operate freely.

BTW, Mt. Everest have been next to India for time immemorial, not even mythical Hanuman ( monkey ) thought of surmounting it. You know it was up to an Englishman to do it for the first time.

Just google for surface modelling "EZYSURF" is one and is very good.

Thanks Bigal.

However the catch is "For only $55, the software is priced to allow everyone in the office to own a copy of the software". I wonder whether each person in the office has to pay $55 to use it. I will find out from them.

Regards,

Aloy
