Alignment text size?

I am fairly new to creating alignments in civil 3D and am having some problems understanding what controls the text height of my stationing??

I have an alignment that i created, copying styles from a previous project, (which i did not create). The text height comes in fine in the alignment file and im sure will be fine for our sheets that we cut at 20 scale, but i am creating an exhibit that is cut at 100 scale and need to update the text height accordingly. That make sense?

How would I go about doing this, or how does the text height ratio work when setting up alignment/label styles??

thanks in advance :)

In Civil 3D, the Alignment Label Style is responsible for the display of the Station Labels... More specifically, the Major, and/or Minor Station Style(s).

AFAIK, unless your Station Label Style has overrides, you do not need to change anything but the Annotation Scale which will update all Station Labels, Ticks, etc. for you.

Now, you might consider creating another Station Label Style, so if at 20 scale you show every 100, and at 100 scale you only want to show every 500, etc..

kind of makes sense. Guess my question really boils down to:

what, within alignment styles and label styles should i look at or change in order to change height and such based on scale. SO if I had a 20 scale style, what would be different in it than the 100 scale style?

Like i said, right now i just copied over styles from a previous project not really knowing what any of them are really set up to.

If your 20 scale, and 100 scale styles are meant to display the same (just at different text height based on the annotation scale, yet still relative), then change only the annotation scale of the PViewport, or Model Space.

If you've done that, and the text height has not changed, then it suggests that your style has overrides. Remove them.

Toolspace > Settings tab > Alignment > Label Styles > Station

... Find the applicable style (presumably under 'Major Station' ?), Right Click, select Edit.

In the Label Style Composer dialog, the Layout tab makes the default settings for this Label Style available. Note that you need to select the correct 'Component name' to see the applicable settings for a given component. If your style has overrides (at the Style level), then those would be shown on the Summary tab > Component # > Text: Text Height, specifically the Override column.

ok so i see that my style seem to have an override, based on the screen shot i attached.

what im having trouble understanding is this, is it .1" at 1:1?

Ive never dealt withh annotative scales (another thing i have to read up on and learn) so not sure what to check for there either.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but this civil 3D stuff is all new to me.

Aprreciate the help though

No worries; we all start somewhere... Civil 3D can be a beast to tame.

Would you mind re-posting your screenshot as an image format (i.e., .jpg, .png, etc.)?

As to your question, yes... The text heigh specified in the Label Style's settings is based on a 1:1 value (like the TextSize System Variable). Using Annotation Scales essentially multiplies this value times whatever scale you've set Model Space, or your PViewport to.

Also worthy of note is that PViewport Annotation Scale has a one-way relationship with the Standard (aka Zoom) scale of said PViewport... Changing the former affects the same value in the latter, whereas changing the latter has _no_ change on the former. Correcting this (automagically) requires the employment of either a Visual LISP Object Reactor, or registering a .NET Event Handler for each instance of a PViewport Object.

Mine too is set for 'Use drawing scale', and 0.010 inches... I have no issues.

what does this control?

... Hit F1 with that dialog open, pay close attention to 'Size Options' section.
