SwChilly Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I have a pond surface. I need to calculate the area of the water surface (at a specific elevation) and calculate the volume. Is there a way to do this? Quote
Bill_Myron Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Create a User Contour in your pond surface. Extract the User Contour. Paste Pond Surface into a new Surface. Add the extracted User Contour as an outer Boundary in the new Surface. Create Volume Surface. The extracted Contour will be a polyline. You can get the area from the properties menu. Quote

I forgot you can extract contours! Thanks so much! Quote
SwChilly Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Now that I have the surface made... what would my base and comparison surfaces be???? Quote
SwChilly Posted March 5, 2013 Author Posted March 5, 2013 Never mind.. What I did was create two surfaces... one with the pasted surface of my pond, and then another one with the extracted contour added (so basically it's flat). Then I compared the two in my volume surface... Seems like a whole lot of surfaces just to get one result tho.. meh as long as it works Quote
BIGAL Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 If you have the pond as a surface empty hole pretty sure just trying to remember steps you can do volumes by slices it gives a listing equivalent to going up in contour steps. Quote
