I had no problem filleting the hole with a radius of 3.

Make sure that you use the appropriate 3D command,

which is FILLETEDGE, and that you set the fillet radius to

the appropriate value.

I have highlighted the FILLETEDGE icon on the Solid Editing toolbar in the image.

Try it again, and I think you will find it quite easy, just follow your commandline prompts.

I think the above image is incorrect. The center (drilled) hole should not have a fillet whereas the edges just above the hole should have a fillet.

This is what I think it should look like. The arrow points to one of the edges I referred to in my previous post. I don't like how the area I circled in red came out. I think it is wrong.:( JDM will be along soon and I'm sure he will show me the error of my ways!

The white faces in the original image are machined faces.

Sometimes when getting correct fillets you have to think about the real world part.

The part is originally a casting.

The fillets exist before the machining operation.

Model the part as a casting rather than finished form and then cut away just like machining a real part.

Note that the image is artwork created on a drawing board by hand.

Often this artwork does not precisely represent the true part.

Order of adding fillets is critically important.

For example this area would look very different if done in a different order.

I will try to post an example later today.

Fillets.PNG You might want to fix your units before turning in the assignment - you modeled the part in inches rather than mm. (didn't we go over this on the two problems yesterday?)

I am inclined to agree with your assessment, so much for trying to post an answer on the fly when under the gun,

reading and visual comprehension approaching zero. No more speed reading for this boy.

That's good to hear.

You can stop addressing me as "Sir". We aren't in the army and I have not been knighted by the Queen. Just call me ReMark. Thanks.

Where do you live if I might ask?

In the future either

1. start with iso template

2. or start with no template - Metric

3. or start with 1 or 2 and set up layers, dimension styles, printing options and everything else and save as your own custom template for all future use.

3. is the recommended method as it saves work. Get lazy! Work less.

Should you need to do that another time, you can do it very easily, without having to redo your drawing by using the -DWGUNITS command.

Pay attention to the commandline prompts and you will be walked through the various options.

This is a very useful, and rather little used function. :)

You can call me anything, just don't call me late to dinner.
