BIGMIKE09281946 Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I am drawing a special purpose peg-board hook and have no idea how to connect a polyline to a helix with a concentric .125 or .0625 radai. I have submited a drawing for your edification, and creative input. 2013 90 Quest.dwg Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) What is the benefit to having the helix in the first place? I could understand its use if you were looking for a unique way to change direction or introduce an offset. Edited March 12, 2013 by ReMark Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 There seems to be some extra geometry at this bend. What happened? OK...I think I figured this one out. I believe your radius of 0.0625 is too tight and should instead be 0.125 which should eliminate the extra loops that are formed below the peg. Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 How did you create your corners? It almost looks like you used a sphere. Quote
ReMark Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Radii changed to 0.125 as previously suggested. Quote

BIGMIKE09281946 Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 It's been a few years I've been away from the AutoCAD forum. I am in a great deal of pain, and can't concentrate on much. But, I am a military veteran and am trying to develop a new product that can be assembled by veterans that cannot find work. You are correct in your assumption, that I need a unique way to capture an item by moving the hook at a 45 degree angle to capture the item that need to be supported, then let fall to a vertical postion. An easy capture and or release of method, Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 I have a further advanced drawing where I was able to create a poly line for the peghook, and sweep a 0.125 circle from the tail to the helix. I will take a look at the peg hook in that drawing when I get off of Cadtutor. Thank You Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 As in my recent replys, I was only using an early design where I have only a primitive model which I could show. I am finding out that I need to make a print out of every drawing, so that I can more easily find previous stages of drawings that I can go back to when I find out I can't get away with somethng. Thank You! Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Yes! I see the difference. A 0.125 radius would be much easier to accomodate. I will make the changes in my next revision. Again I am concerned on making the left had turn into the helix, and how it can be drawn with AutoCAD. Quote
BIGMIKE09281946 Posted March 14, 2013 Author Posted March 14, 2013 Not today. My SO fractured her right wrist Monday. So I've been busy driving her aroung. I'll get back on it after I talk to a CNC machinist. Thank You! Quote
