cad_monkey Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Hi, I'm having issues printing layouts to full colour. I've Exported to PDF and plotted to a printer and the same things keep happening. The Polylines and hatching keep being faded whilst printing. I've checked lineweights, I've turned off everything to do with fading - even layer managers setting fade slide bar is turned off. I've massed with plot styles and still it is happening. Any ideas? Quote
cad_monkey Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Okay so plotting to a printer is fine now. I think it was because the 'Normal' plot style was selected and so for some reason those settings print faint plots. Exporting to PDF is still an issue though and i have tried overriding the output settings to use the same plot style as the one that worked for the physical print, but had no joy. Still stuck with that. Quote
ReMark Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Just one of the many "gotchas" using PDF's created from drawings. Quote
cad_monkey Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Hmmm, I used to use a converter to plot PDF's and it worked great just picking PDF995 from the printer list and hitting print. Now, although PDF995 still works great in everything else like Word, it takes and absolute age to output a PDF using this method in Civil. Sometimes it just doesn't bother! Exporting is my only real option as I have to PDF all drawings I create so this is becoming a problem. Quote
ReMark Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 If it is that important maybe you should be considering a different option? Quote
cad_monkey Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Tried other PDF converters/printers and they have the same issue. AutoCAD is obviously the culprit. Any other ideas? Quote
ReMark Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I'd scrap the PDF format. What is driving its use in the first place? Quote
ReMark Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Is the company aware of what you have to go through to obtain a useable result or do they just not care? Is the client being billed for the time it takes you to solve your PDF printing problems? Quote
cad_monkey Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 All previous versions of CAD I have used since 2000 (mostly Map 3D) have had no problem printing to PDF and so I don't see why this upgrade should have a problem with it. The company doesn't really care how it happens as long as the function is available. At the end of the day, it's my problem and i need to sort it - it's what i'm here to do and what i'm pay for. ReMark Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Then I guess you need to find out what changed and correct it then. Sorting through PDF printing problems can be frustrating to say the least not to mention a big time and paper waster. I hope you find a solution to your problem. Good luck. Quote
SLW210 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 No one will be able to help you until you post a .dwg, your plot settings, some print previews etc. screen shots or something. The list of things that could cause this are endless. Does the print preview look correct? Quote
