bumblebbabe Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Is there a way to change the annotations so that they become millimeters and not meters? I dont really want to change my entire drawing to millimeters because i have other drawings in my model space which suit meters. It's just this one section I have drawn is so detailed and zoomed in, it really should be in millimeters. If there isn't i'll just change the whole drawing, but thought I should ask on here first in case I was missing something obvious Thanks heaps for any help Quote
Ski_Me Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Are you using paperspace for the final output of your drawing? Quote
Ski_Me Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Hmm I have the imperial version of autocad but if you want to change to millimeters in the same drawing I suggest you create a layout in paperspace then zoom in the detail you need in millimeters and then make a new dimstyle and select millimeters as the units. Your annotation scale should be about 2:1 which is 2 paperspace unit=1 modelspace unit but the size of the drawing will determine your annotation scale. Quote
SLW210 Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 What exactly are your annotations? Text, Mtext, Attributes, Civil 3d entities? Quote
JD Mather Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 Hmm I have the imperial version of autocad... There is no such thing as "imperial version of autocad". Type -dwgunits hit Enter and report what your command line says. Quote
bumblebbabe Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 @ Ski_Me, yes I am using paper space as the final output. @ SLW210 I have drawn a construction section, and the dimensions are in meters, and my boss said he would like them in millimeters. I dont really know what Text, Mtext, Attributes, Civil 3d entities are :S All I know is I clicked on the annotate tab and went to the dimensions section :S @JD Mather dont know if that was intended for me or not......but I tried it and got this in response: Command: dwgunits Unknown command "DWGUNITS". Press F1 for help. Quote
rkent Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 change DIMLFAC to 1000, do this for a new dimstyle and use it when wanting to show mm on your drawing where the objects are in meters. Better to do this in the dimstyle dialog, Primary Units tab, middle left area. Quote
SLW210 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 For -DWGUNITS, you need the hyphen in front. Quote
Ski_Me Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 There is no such thing as "imperial version of autocad".Type -dwgunits hit Enter and report what your command line says. I get unknown command too I think that's just an Inventor command but I don't use Inventor very much so I'm not sure. I know I couldn't change my units to metric with the version I have and it says MEP US Imperial. Quote
RobDraw Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 You can change to millimeters. Did you check the UNITS command? Quote
Ski_Me Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I didn't see the post about the hyphen before my post I tried it and it works like you said. Man I never draw in metric that's just crazy. Quote
bumblebbabe Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 @ rkent Thanks heaps for the post! Typing in DIMLFAC to 1000 worked a treat, and now all my dimensions come out as for example 300, not 0.3 Thanks heaps for your help Quote
