3ds Max 2014 Scheduled to Launch on March 26

Though the features announced are in no way at the moment an incentive to upgrade. AutoDesk Had 1 in the Chamber, Sadly it was a dud. :(

3ds Max 2014 is available as a trial version now at Autodesk

I'l post my thoughts on it once it's installed & running.

3ds Max 2014 is a bust as I mentioned somewhere else. I see no reason to upgrade, just the usual update "performance, plain plugins, and a sugar coating."

The Icons are horrible and so is the loading image. The loading interface "screen that shows up while starting 3ds max" is cool, but the "loading image" is ugly.

Maybe someone will think it's awesome, I highly doubt it. Mental ray renderer also got an update, I can't call it anything major.

AutoDesk is running out of ideas with regards to 3ds max, Autodesk should start working on a Final build that will be updated periodically.

Though if AutoDesk releases a Final build of any software title the cash will stop flowing in from NO BUDGET studios.

If I understand correctly those who purchased autodesk 2013 with the subscription can choose to upgrade to 3ds max 2014, or wait until the next release. I would Wait until the next 3ds Max release.

I am disappointed.

3ds Max 2014 Week review.

If you're purchasing your first 3ds max liscense 3ds max 2014 is the way to go. The learning curve is not at all great if you have used 3ds max 9 and up.

If you're jumping from 3ds max 9 to 3ds max 2014 then the learning curve is insurmountable.

3ds max 2014 seems to be more efficient when it comes to resource usage than 3ds max 2013, and way more efficient than 3ds max 2011.

What bothers me is what I have said elsewhere, Autodesk is approaching the 3ds Max FINAL BUILD point, I do not believe AutoDesk can create another version of 3ds max that will take the industry by storm. If anything they can add a voice interaction feature - Example

"Create twenty feet by twenty feet plane at zero zero zero"

"Create cylinder radius five feet height 10 feet at zero zero zero"

"Apply u v w map modifier"

== someone will steal this idea==

After days of evaluation I have found nothing wrong with 3ds max 2014 other than the fact that I'm accustomed to pressing X to bring up my transform gizmo, now when i press X a search bar appears.

other than that 3ds max 2014 is a disappointment, contorted into perfection.

Good Job AutoDesk.
