Viu
Pictured is a part I'm trying to make out of sheet metal with a thickness of 0.07" However I'm not sure how to do this from a sketch viewing the part from a top or bottom down view, and I cannot draw the part unfolded, and fold it. Any help would be appreciated.
JD Mather
Sketch1 is not dimensioned. Read this http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/SkillsUSA%20University.pdf
JD Mather
Pictured is a part I'm trying to make out of sheet metal with a thickness of 0.07" Dimensioning shows that your part is not .07" thick.
JD Mather
Your Sheet Metal Style is not set to .07"
JD Mather
Sheet metal is bent to fold - you are missing bends.
JD Mather
You are doing too much work and using wrong tool (Extrude), only need single line profile and Inventor will add the bends for you. (forget this statement for now, it will be easier for you to see where you are going wrong if you dimension as double line profile for now.) When done correctly you will use the Contoured Flange tool and maybe the Rip tool, but first you need to get logical dimensions on this thing as the logic doesn't make sense. (that is why we dimension geometry) Edited March 24, 2013 by JD Mather
JD Mather
How are you coming along on dimensioning?
JD Mather
It's been a couple of days now. Why did you ask question? Did you figure out how to dimension a sketch?
