Siberian
In the dimension style dialog I can set the color of different elements. One of them is ByBlock - which I never understood. What block does this refer to? Can someone explain it? Thanks
MSasu
Is about block entities - check the BLOCK command. The said ByBlock is a logical color - that it, the entity will assume the color of its container (the block).

Siberian
...the entity will assume the color of its container. But if I draw a dimension line (set to ByBlock) on whatever layer - what's its "container"?
MSasu
The ByBlock color (or linetype, for that matter) have meaning only for items that were inside block definitions. For more information on how to create and us a block, please check this tutorial.
halfcracked
ByBlock as it relates to dimensions means it will take the value of the dimension rather than the individual components. It treats the whole dimension as a block containing text, dimension line, extension line, arrow, etc. ByBlock allows you to say, change the color of a dimension without having to edit styles. Yeah, that's what I was going to say, but you said it so much better!
