meecpc Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 How do I import or convert a signature into a vector image for a professional engineers seal? Quote
meecpc Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 It can be anything. We have created the seal now we need to get a signature on it without having to sketch or use spline. Quote
BIGAL Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 By asking for vector your really saying lines etc so why not just trace over a image, zoom in close with plines make it short segments then spline it change the thickness etc and it looks like its hand signed. Save it as a block. Its part of our std proceedure original paper copy signed then digital added so appears in pdf. We have a lisp that inserts it correctly into every layout. Quote
RobDraw Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Why not just use the image and skip converting altogether? Quote
tzframpton Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 You can use the SKETCH command to "trace" over the signature. One thing I've done in the past is already have the scanned signature as a cropped JPG file wrapped up with the Seal as a block. Then I used a hand-written type font to type in the date, which was an attribute. Worked out great, actually... but the only thing I'd change about it is make the image an OLE so it doesn't have to be referenced, and is "embedded". Quote
CyberAngel Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 What I do in this case is to print a hard copy of the seal. The engineer signs the paper. I scan the paper, crop the image, and xref it as an image. A typical scanned image has colors, so I convert it to binary (black and white, sometimes called duotone). It comes out crisper and looks more realistic. Quote

RobDraw Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Robdraw upgraded to CIV3d 2013 no longer works with a scanned image posted here a few times. That sucks but I don't see anything about Civil3D in the OP or that he can't insert or use an image. So I thought I'd ask why they don't just use an image. Still don't know why not. Quote
BIGAL Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 The plain black and white signature scanned becomes a solid black rectang object in 2013 when plotted tried every method, our aerial images are not a problem because their full colour. Worked perfect 2011. Quote
RobDraw Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 BIGAL, there must be a solution to your problem. Maybe you can start another thread as that may not be the OPs problem. Speaking of the OP, wonder where he went. Quote
