Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I have downloaded a 30 day trial of Inventor and I get the following message when I try and open it - an autodesk product failed to send the required value for serialnum. I am running xp pro. Quote
ReMark Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Take a look at this. Hope it is of some use to you. http://upandready.typepad.com/up_and_ready/2012/05/inventor-family-an-autodesk-product-failed-to-send-the-required-value-for-serialnum.html Quote
Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Yes I've seen that. It doesn't tell how to do it in xp pro though, only windows 7. Xp doesn't have windows features. Quote
ReMark Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 And you tried the new user account trick as well? Windows XP and turning off features. You'll have to scroll down to the right section. http://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-7/enable-and-disable-windows-features/ Quote
JD Mather Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 ... I am running xp pro. Is that 32-bit or is it 64-bit? Did you download 32-bit or did you download 64-bit. Quote
Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 No joy. I deleted my profile, created a new one with the same result. I'm getting a bit desperate now, the 30 day clock is ticking. It's the 32 bit one. Incidentally I can't reply to these treads without logging out and logging back in again. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Where did you download this program (Inventor 2012 - 32-bit version)? url? Quote
Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 I downloaded it from the Autodesk site itself. It's pukka. Quote
ReMark Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Well you could always try uninstalling .NET Framework then reinstalling it. Quote
Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Ok I'll give that a go. I'll do the reboots as was suggested, it might make all the difference, I'll be awol for a while whilst I'm doing that. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 I downloaded it from the Autodesk site itself. It's pukka. That is not a url. A url will be something like http:// Quote
Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Rather sadly uninstalling and re-installing .net framework did not work either. When I downloaded Inventor I went on http://www.autodesk.co.uk clicked on products, then Inventor family and free trial. Quote
ReMark Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Does your system meet the minimum recommended specs as called for by AutoDesk? Quote
Guitarman Posted April 1, 2013 Author Posted April 1, 2013 Yes. The fact that it's on the Autodesk forum/blog means that it's a known problem, and when you trawl the internet there's dozens of cries for help on the same subject. I've been back on the Autodesk site looking for answers but answers are there none. I'm afraid to say I left a rather scathing customer satisfaction survey when I left the site as I am now losing the will to live over this. Quote
Guitarman Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Thanks for all your help everybody, but I've finally managed to open it. Hurrah! The solution? I reinstalled it, and hey presto, it opened. In the meantime I'd updated all my drivers, whether that helped or not I don't know because it still wouldn't open, but it's certainly made my computer much faster. It's an ill wind .... etc. etc. Curiously Autodesk never came back with an answer. Any road up, thanks again I'm sure I'll be back. Quote
