I have imported data showing the contours of a surface into autocad.. I want to output it as an .stl of the same contour map but with a higher resolution and smoothed out. I created a mesh and exploded, but now at the stage where I want to convert to solid it doesn't let me do it..

Is there a way of making the mesh into a solid?

Command: _convtosolid Mesh conversion set to: Smooth and optimized.

Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 53646 found

Select objects: Specify opposite corner: 37336 found (6124 duplicate), 84858

total

Select objects:

84858 objects cannot be converted.

Command:

Command:

Command: _EXPORT

Select solids or watertight meshes: Specify opposite corner: 84858 found

Select solids or watertight meshes:

Selected objects must be solids or watertight meshes.

84858 objects removed from the selection set.

Yes, there are. Check out Similar Threads listed below for possible solutions.

Your best bet would be to supply a copy of your drawing. You may have to utilize Dropbox as I'm guessing the file size will be over the limit allowed here.

Ye its 35mb.. :( I will have a look at dropbox and zippyshare etc. I have uploaded it to google drive to show a friend.. Is there a way of sharing that publicly on this forum without uploading again?

I have imported data...

What format was the imported data?

Is that a picture of the original or after you tried to "fix" it?

Yes thats after I "fixed" it ;-) there was no mesh before.. I can also upload the original before any possibly counterproductive tinkering
