MRAKA Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Can someone tell me what 3d settings I need to tweak in order to improve my models in 3D. When I am using 3D in CAD is tends to be a bit slow and sluggish. Andrew AutoCAD 2012:cry: Quote
ReMark Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 What are the specs on your computer? How large are your 3D files? Do you have hardware acceleration enabled or disabled? Are you working on a network or standalone? What OS are you using? What programs are running in the background? Ex. - antivirus, MS Office, browser, etc. You might want to update your profile since you are no longer using AutoCAD 2008. Quote
tzframpton Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Mark's list of questions is certainly necessary in tracking down your possible issues. Complexity of models, along with your setup in 3DCONFIG also has merit to performance. Using Primatives when you can helps improve performance, versus other methods to create identical geometry. Just simple things like this can help, but don't expect huge leaps in performance because bottom line is 3D designing of any sort can, and will, buckle a computer depending on the complexity of the design. Dadgad Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Barring any number of other contributing factors, and possible solutions, if you can deal with working in 2D wireframe visual style (assuming that you are not already?) when manipulating your 3D models, that should speed things up. ADAPTIVE DEGRADATION would be another setting to check out, on your SYSTEM tab, of OPTIONS, in the 3D Performance subsection. The default value is 5, if I am not mistaken, this can be tweaked to maximize your performance, by prioritizing certain items as sacrificial, and the first to degenerate when your frame rate drops into an unacceptable range.
