Anyone know how to set 0 quardinates without screwing with the copy paste base point?

I use the command UCS, Object, Select my base point and measure from there rather than cluttering measurement lines; however, without using UCS, Previous when ever i copy and paste the base point for the copy paste is off.. yes i can reset just wondering why it does this.

Thank You.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but when you paste to coordinates, AutoCAD uses the current UCS, not necessarily the world UCS.

Well, If my base isn't moved, when i copy an object if my cursor is any bit close to what i am copying when i paste its to the top right of my cursor (cursor intersection is lowest XY value of total paste).

When I move the base point via UCS if i copy, even if cursor is near the object when you paste the pasted object is normally WAY WAY off to the left sometimes out of extents and when Mouse 3 it increases model area.

Using UCS Previous fixes the problem..

Bug? Reason?

The UCS needs to be the same in both files in order for copying with base point and pasting with coordinates to work.

Copying without using the base point option assigns the base point as lower left extent of the object(s) selected.

Not pasting with quardinates, not pasting from one file to the other.. Everything is same file and the problem happens either in Paper space or Model Space.

Mind I am using ACDLT 2010 for Electrical Purposes (theres allot of repetition in terminal block's paired wire annotation)

Your explanation is a bit confusing. Can you please post a couple of screen shots showing what the problem is?

I am trying to change the UCS without changing the default Copy Base point of most bottom left (just a simple CTRL+C not Copy with Base Point CTRL+SHIFT+C).

The procedure of what i am doing is typed into the previous pictures i posted but i will type them here:

I change the UCS to utilize ordinate dimensions to un-clutter the drawing (UCS,Object, (Select Object))

Make my Ordinate measurements

Randomly later in the drawing try to copy/ paste something (however if i do not UCS,Previous) the base point is way off and not at the default most lower left corner.

Okay, I think I got it now. The base point is obviously UCS (User Coordinate System) driven. When you change it, it is rotating 180 degrees (Turn on your UCS icon to see this happening.) as well as moving and will affect the rotation of anything inserted. Therefore, the default base point goes from being the lower left to the upper right of the objects you are copying. You may want to look into learning more about the UCS and how it works.
