NKG Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I was in process of editing a block in "block editor" mode. Accidently, I saved the dwg and exit instead of saving the block, exit block editor and then exit the dwg. When I opened again the dwg what I see on display is just the block. How to close the block and open the entire dwg? thanks, Nkg Quote
Bogbadbob658 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 You must of done something else and somehow saved the block details as the file but I can't work out how. If select save whilst editing the block it saves the file without updating the block (unless you saved the block earlier in your work). If you then select close, AutoCAD will ask you if you want to save the changes to the block and then ask if you want to save the changes to the file. Under no circumstances will it save the file with the block editor open. Somehow you have manged to over right your file with the block data. I'm afraid I think you have lost your original file. Hopefully you still have the bak file so not all is lost. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yes, known and fixed problem for AutoCAD 2012 products, get AutoCAD Block Editor Save Corruption Hot Fix. UPDATES AND SERVICE PACKS. You might try a recover on the file you have. Quote
nicolas Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Yes you are right. This is definitely a bug. Instead of closing the block editor I have close the dwg file. I have been able to use recovery on the file. Many thanks for the advice. Quote
Preisner Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Hi all. I've answered in an old post the solution I found to this bug http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?58423-Drawing-disappeared-after-saving-it-in-block-editor&p=612192&viewfull=1#post612192 Cheers Quote
