Chickenhawk72 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Version: AutoCAD Mechanical 2013 32bit OS: Windows 7 SP1 32bit Licensing: Network (Single server) CPU: Core i3-2120 RAM: 4GB Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6450 Environment: Large FE college We have recently renewed our licence, moving from an annual renewal to a permanent licence with annual maintenance, this issue has only been evident since the licence change. Students are able to launch AutoCAD ok and work with it quite happily, however after a period of time (approx 30 to 60 minutes) the toolbars stop responding to the mouse and the cursor has defaulted to the command line. The mouse cursor still moves around the screen, but doesn't do anything when a button is clicked. It is possible to navigate the menus using the keyboard shortcuts, but a lot of menu options which should be accessible are greyed out. This seems to be happening mainly after the students have printed their work. If they launch Task Manager and close acad.exe then re-launch AutoCAD, it is still not working properly. I have also noticed in Task Manager that there are multiple copies of LMU.exe running. The only solution I have found so far is to close all Autodesk services and all copies of LMU.exe, then re-launch AutoCAD. We are now in exam season and students are struggling to complete their work, as I have said this has only started since I changed the licence file, please advise. Quote
ReMark Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Have you contacted AutoDesk regarding the problem? Quote
Chickenhawk72 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 I've logged a post on their forums with the same details as above, but have not contacted them directly. Does anyone know a contact number for them in the UK? Quote
ReMark Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Did you sign on for "Subscription"? Responses to questions via the forums is not very quick most times. Quote
Chickenhawk72 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Yes, I've also logged this with our vendor now, they said they will raise a support ticket for us. Quote
ReMark Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Have you tried working with a drawing file saved to the desktop? Quote
Chickenhawk72 Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 I don't know how to use AutoCAD myself, I work in the IT support office so I just do the installs and manage the license server Quote
ReMark Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Ask the instructor or one of the students to download their drawing file to the desktop. Start AutoCAD, open the drawing, and proceed as usual. What happens? Quote
Chickenhawk72 Posted May 8, 2013 Author Posted May 8, 2013 They tend to store their drawings on USB pen drives, so it's local storage anyway. Autodesk have given the following fixes: Delete *.data file Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data_backup.001 Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet\adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data_backup.001 Test AutoCAD operation and issue to see if that made any difference. Another thing to try... 2. Reset AutoCAD user profile: ** This example is for AutoCAD Arch 2013: 1. Navigate to path below and rename "ACA 2013" folder to "ACA 2013.old" C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk 2. Run "regedit.exe" and navigate to path below: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R19.0 3. Select "ACAD-B004:409" registry folder from the left, then Right-Click Export to Desktop as backup. 4. Delete "ACAD-B004:409" registry folder. 5. Run AutoCAD Arch 2013. With the last step, AutoCAD should go through a very short setup process and regenerate the window and registry folder mentioned above. This will revert AutoCAD to its out-of-the-box settings and hopefully resolve license issue as well. Resetting profiles and registry fixes are non-starters for me as there are multiple students on multiple machines, and student accounts don't have access to registry editor, so I'm just trying the data files for now.
