qball Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Can I jump in on here with a similar problem? I have Autocad LT 2012. I installed SP2 but not SP1. I am having lots of glitches with the program (I can detail later if necessary). I tried to install SP1 but it won't locate my Autocad. Did I miss out on SP1 completely then? What if it has the fixes I need? Quote
SLW210 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 AFAIK, service pack 2 includes service pack 1, if not they usually warn of this on install of SP 2. If you want to install SP 1 then SP 2, just uninstall SP 2 through Windows Add/Remove Programs, then try to start over. What glitches are you having? I'll made you a new thread. qball Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Can I remove just the SP? Or do I have to remove and re-install Autocad? 2 main glitches that annoy me: - When opening ACad I have Layer and Properties palettes docked on the left and Tool palette docked on the right. There's a weird break as seen in the attached image. I can collapse autocad or shut it down and restart and sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's back. A related problem (I think) is that sometimes the Properties palette won't load. I hit ctrl+1 and still nothing. Again, have to restart acad. - 2nd problem, moving or copying objects, it's like I'm hitting "from", I have to pick several points, sometimes up to 5 points before it finally decides to place the item. I'm not hitting "from" point. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Maybe some on can help with the glitches. You can remove just the Service Pack. Though you might want to try a Repair on AutoCAD to help with your glitches. Uninstall This Service Pack Windows XP

From the Start menu (Windows), click Settings > Control Panel.
In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs.
In the Add or Remove Programs window, select the Show Updates option.
Find the appropriate Service Pack in the list of programs. Click Remove.
Windows Vista and Windows 7

From the Start menu (Windows), click Control Panel.
Click Programs.
Click Programs and Features.
In the Programs and Features window, in the left pane, click View Installed Updates.
Find the appropriate Service Pack in the list of updates. Click Uninstall.
Quote
SLW210 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Also, there are some more hotfixes besides the Service Packs. Have those been installed? Quote
qball Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 When I follow your instructions for Windows 7 above, it asks for the disk, which makes me think it will uninstall the whole program. I would rather not set up Autocad to my liking again. I have saved my workspace on the network, but who knows what else won't work to my liking. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 A repair does not reset customization, it needs the disk for a repair as well. Quote
qball Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Yes, I installed the hotfixes I'm having another issue where the I can open Block Editor once, and save, then I try to Edit the block again and this comes up "Errors found in references to other objects: ** Object reference missing: AcDbLine, to AcDbDimAssoc. ** Object reference missing: AcDbPolyline, to AcDbDimAssoc." So I have to Explode and Redefine the block. So I installed the Block Editor Hot fix and then I couldn't open Block Editor at all and it said "BE Unknown Command" and "BlockEditor is Read Only". So I got rid of that Hot "break-it-some-more" The master of the disks is back so I'll try the SP1. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Ok, I'll be leaving work now and will check back tomorrow. Quote
qball Posted May 2, 2013 Author Posted May 2, 2013 Okay, thanks. I have a feeling I'm going to fill up this thread with stuff. I said this years ago, but when these companies go to a subscription and yearly product release it seems to have more and more problems. Here's the weird one my co-worker is having with Acad LT 2013: he can't type in lower case! He types, then has to highlight the stuff he wants lower case and change it in the Annotate tab. He hasn't done any SP's. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 As for the not typing in lowercase, in MTEXT there is an option for AutoCAPS, that needs to be turned off. For your Block Editor problem, is this with all/any blocks or a select few? Try running an Audit on the drawing and see what is reported. Quote
qball Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 The Autocaps thing? Who knew!? thanks for that. I'm having problems with older drawings from previous drafters. I don't know how many iterations and programs have been used developing the details. Audit showed 0 errors. Quote
SLW210 Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 Just bad blocks I guess. Can you post one? Can you edit them in-place? You try Wblock them out? Quote
qball Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 I tried Wblocking out all the objects on the drawing to a new file. The error came with it. I attached just one of the blocks, but it seems consistent with most of the blocks. I can edit-in-place once. Then if I try to do it again, I get the error. block error.dwg Quote
qball Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Do any of you fine folks have any insight to this problem I mentioned earlier: - moving or copying objects, it's like I'm hitting "from", I have to pick several points, sometimes up to 5 points before it finally decides to place the item. I'm not hitting "from" point. Quote
qball Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 I'll have to post an animated screen video for that one. It's happened a couple times, but I'm usually in the middle of something so I didn't set up the screen shot. I'll get it eventually. On to the next one: Cut and Paste in Mtext Editor sometimes cuts off some of the text I cut / copy. I did a search and there's lots of weird Mtext issues , but I didn't come across this specifically. Quote
qball Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 I uploaded a video screen shot to Youtube. It can be viewed here: As you can see, I move some objects and it prompts me for a second (or sometimes 3rd, 4th or 5th) point. Quote
