Marvin7 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 I've noticed that with selection cycling, while it's handy to select multiple overlapping objects, you'd better be sure about what you're selecting first because there's no way to unselect (using selection cycling). Am I missing something? Quote
Dadgad Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 If you hold down the SHIFT button you can deselect an item, but by selecting it on the screen, not from the selection cycling drop down list. Quote
Marvin7 Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) If you hold down the SHIFT button you can deselect an item, but by selecting it on the screen, not from the selection cycling drop down list. Of course if I was capable of selecting/unselecting it directly on the screen, I probably wouldn't be using selection cycling in the first place, would I? But, yeah, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better way. In practice, I usually just end up unselecting everything and starting over, making sure the next time to remember which items on the cycling list I want selected and which I don't, which can be a little tricky when multiple items have the same description. Dadgad Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Is the selection preview displaying, as you cycle through the list, it should be. Sounds like it isn't, as you mention description. If it is not, you can turn it on in OPTIONS on the SELECTION tab. Quote

Yeah, selection preview setting is saved on a drawing level apparently because I have to reset it every time I work on someone else's drawing who didn't have it set to on, so sometimes I forget. But good point that having it on makes it easier to know what you're selecting. Still, deselect would be nice in selection cycling, really for the same reasons it's handy even when you're not in selection cycling mode...you know, sometimes I change my mind or intentionally select something and realize immediately afterwards I don't need it, etc. Quote
