student21 Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 at my company we moved to Autocad 2012. when we try attempt to Link a Data Extraction file we get a message saying that Autocad 2012 only allows Excel 2000, 2003 or 2007. We are using an earlier version of Excel. Has anyone come across this problem and is there a way around it other than purchasing Excel again? Thanks Quote
Ski_Me Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I have played around with data extraction for some of the things I do but haven't messed with it in a while. But I recall (if it is correct) you could link to a text file then export to a spread sheet but I might be thinking of another program been awhile. If you don't want to buy excel again you could use open office. It's a open source office suite that Microsoft owns . You could set up your file in a open office spread sheet then save as an excel workbook. as long as the extention is correct I don't see how it could be a problem for AutoCAD. Just make sure you save your file as a later version of excel. Quote
lesleys Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Try saving it as a csv file then see if you can open that with your version of Excel. I know you can do this but not sure about the earlier version of Excel. If you are able to open it you can then save as a an XLS. Quote
