Hello CAD Users,

I copied a drawing that has Romantic Font and pasted it into MS word document. On my computer, the Romantic font shows up perfect in MS word document however, when I sent the word document file to another person who doesn't have AutoCAD, the font comes out in weird characters. Does anyone know a quick fix to this please?

Your quick response would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,

Sam

The other person will need to have that font installed on their system.

You copied "text" from the drawing, right?

Because if you pasted an image of the drawing into word, there are no fonts involved.

Do you have to use MSword?

If not, you can print the drawing to PDF and tell the PDF driver to embed this font (some fonts are copy protected, just an FYI), or optionally capture the fonts as geometry.

CyberAngel, the other person who opened up the word document has the Romantic Font installed?

rkmcswain, I copied the drawing directly to MS Word. We are required to paste the drawing into word document so that the other person from another department can type in procedures and put it inside our SOP (Standard Operating Procedures). It still wouldn't work. The only thing I can think of is go back to 25 drawings and change Romantic font to a different font.

What exactly are you cutting and pasting? You have to open a text object to select the text it contains. I just tried to copy a multitext object and then a text object to Word, and it gave me a drawing object, not text. When I open the text object and copy the contents, it pastes the way you'd expect.

CyberAngel, in modelspace, there is a floor plan that has an xref. I created a xclip to only show specific area. Below the floor plan, I typed in a text using Romantic font. I went to paperspace and created an MVIEW. I double clicked inside mview, selected all, copied and then went to MS word. Inside MS Word I used paste special. Everything looks great. It's just that the other user who doesn't have AutoCAD, opened up the MS word file I sent and the text came out weird characters.

Why don't you try typing a text using Romantic font inside AutoCAD. Copy n paste special to MS word. Send it to someone who you know doesn't have AutoCAD installed and see if it works.
