Hello: In a template file, in the layout, I did "imageattach" command to bring in our company logo. I used the text tool to add some info underneath and then after,

used the command "block" to group the text with the logo.

It looked great...I could see the company logo and the text.

I saved the .dwt template file ....

Now, when I go to re-open it, the picture of the company logo does not show; rather, it displays the path to where I downloaded the pic. (see attachement)Logo troubles.jpg

what's weird is that as you can see in the pic, when browsing to open the template, the preview of it displays it with the logo pic.

Did I do something wrong when attaching or creating the block?

thanks,

Proctor

When you attached the image, you only included a reference to the file's location, not the image itself. The image file isn't in the same folder with the template. AutoCAD can't find the file, and that's why you're seeing the saved path.

One solution is to go to your File References window and provide the image path. The disadvantage of that approach is that you have to do it every time you use the template.

Another solution is to put the image itself in your drawing. Copy the image onto your clipboard and use Paste Special.

CyberAngel - thank you for your reply. I see what you're saying.....

Can you please explain how to get the image into cad? do I still use the imageattach command - and then after, I do a copy (ctl c) but don't know how to do paste special....can you please explain?

IMO, best way is to open image in MS Paint or similar image editor and Select all>Copy then paste into AutoCAD, you could even add the text in the photoeditor.

Open the image with whatever image editor you use, or the system default if you don't use an editor. Select the whole image (Ctrl-A usually works). Copy it to the clipboard.

In the drawing, go to the Edit menu and use the Paste Special command. It recognizes that you have image data on the clipboard and (usually) gives you several options for the format it will use to add it to the drawing.

The disadvantage of this approach is that you're making a copy of the original image, not referencing it. If the original changes, the copy will not reflect those changes. Then again, your logo probably won't change very often.

Or, as SLW ninjaed, you could simply paste the image.

Thank you both for your help. I ended up following SLW210's advice and creating one new logo out of the image and text.

It's now working great.

Thank you again for your help.
