Swept features in an assembly

I am trying to run a gas line through a floor using a sweep. What I would like to do would be to use the same path for both the cut and the boss. Is this possible? I can do the swept cut easily under the assembly features but there is no selection to do a boss. When I create a new part, create the path and profile the selection to do a swept cut is greyed out. When I do the swept boss first then try to do the cut it tells me that I would end up with no geometry.

I'm stuck!!

Thanks!

You probably don't want to do the swept cut at the assembly level anyhow as it should be at the part level - same as real world.

Do the solid part.

Import the solid part into each of the parts to be cut.

I would be pretty difficult to do the cut at the part level. This gas line runs horizontally through a floor so it has to cut through about 30 floor joists in various locations. I use a pattern to place the floor joists and then have 5 or 6 configurations of that joist to make up the floor. If I did do it at the part level then I would have to make several cuts in the part and then supress or unsurpress in the design table, but some of those cuts would overlap...which solidworks doesn't seem to like all that much! And since each unit we build has a different layout, I would have to create cuts in the joist for each and every unit we build. So it is easier to make the cut in the assembly and have it specific to that unit.
