Hi all, I am just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if it is possible to alter the favourites list in AutoCAD so it can be personalised by each individual user.

When you CTRL + O or click open on the toolbar, the Open dialogue box will open with a favourites list on the left. Now, when I add a new folder to that list, every user on a different computer will also see that new directory. I would like to make it so everyone could have their on list without it being altered by anyone but that user!

Thanks in advance!:)

No doubt you are aware that in your OPEN - SELECT FILE dialog in Autocad you can customize it locally.

I realize that this is not what you are asking about, just wanted to be sure that you were aware of this option too. :)

ctrl-O works exactly how you want it here. Each person can add their own folders without it appearing on the other machines. I wonder what is different or what I've missed in your description.

Ah! Sorry I forgot to mention that every machine is using the same profile (.arg). It seems the favourites list is saved within this profile so whenever there is a change to it, it will affect every user.

I could link the machines to a copy of the profile on the C:\ but it will defeat my purpose of being able to standardize drawings.

Hope this gives more info on my problem!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm confused.

The favorites are stored as part of the user's Profile, which may be common at the time the Profile is first imported into Registry (that's all a .ARG file is, is a .REG file). Each user's favorites are in fact stored to their HKCU hive of the Registry, so for you to be able to make a change, and that change subsequently being made immediately available to others means you have some sort of IT automation that I am unfamiliar with.

In all of the CAD environments I have worked, I have never experienced such behavior, that's not to say it is impossible, simply improbable.

More information is needed.
