It is driving me crazy. I can't click on objects.. or draw from.. my mouse moves smoothly in every other application of my computer..just not in CAD workspace..any ideas??? Thanks in advance. Dadgad Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Have you tried toggling your snap off with F9? Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I have gone into my tools to toggle off the snap command.. F9 on my computer has been changed to dimension. But yes I have toggled SNAP "OFF" Thanks for the quick response Quote
Dadgad Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 What OSNAPS are you running? Are you using DYNAMIC INPUT? Is your HARDWARE ACCELERATION on or off? Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 the osnaps I am using are toggled on and off as I need them. I use endpoint, midpoint. and a couple of others.. my mouse still jumps big spaces, even with osnaps toggled "OFF". I don't know if I am using DYAMIC INPUT or not.. Not sure what that is. I am using Acad 2008. I only do two dimensional drawings. Quote
Dadgad Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 OBJECT SNAP (F3) and SNAP MODE (originally F9) are two different functions. It sounds like you may have your SNAP to GRID turned on. Check at the bottom of your screen, on the STATUS BAR for the SNAP MODE and GRID icons, and make sure that they are both turned off, and I suspect you will no longer have this problem. Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 No..SNAP and GRID are both turned OFF... that is what is confusing me. It should not be happening, with snap turned off Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 snap is turned off...but it is still snapping like it is turned on. Quote
Dadgad Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Very annoying, for sure. I am putting up a hail mary here, see the image, and you will also see some other snap related system variables which may be causing your problem. Are you working in METRIC or IMPERIAL units? Have you tried rebooting the software? Have you tried auditing the drawing? Is this happening in a single drawing, or in any drawing you open? If it is in a single drawing, can you post it, or a part of it, stripped of any proprietary content? Can you do a screeshot of what is happening? Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I am not using metric..I have closed the program and reopened it..if that is what you mean by rebooting software. I have not tried auditing the drawing. I do not know how to do this. I have opened up other drawing to check this, and it is happening in all that I have opened. How would I do a screen shot of what is happening? How can I check my system variables to see if they are 1 or 0 on SNAPGRIDLEGACY? Quote

By rebooting I meant closing and restarting the software, so we can check that one off the list. You can AUDIT a drawing by using the AUDIT command, but based on what you say about it seems to be a problem on any file you open, that likely would not help with this particular issue. In order to determine your current setting for a system variable, you just need to enter the system variable name at the command line and hit enter. The response at the command line will look like this , and the number shown is the current setting of that system variable. In order to change the setting one would enter the new desired value and hit ENTER. Quote
Dadgad Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yet another longshot, probably not it, but we don't know if we don't check, eh? If you click on ALL PROGRAMS in your Windows start screen, and go into the ACCESSORIES folder you will likely find an icon for SNIPPING TOOL, which you can add to your quick start menu or desktop as a shortcut. You can use such a tool to save a screenshot. Or a similar functionality can be found in PAINT, as reported on the forum. Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 what is the varible name to enter on command line to check the value? Quote
Trickworm Posted June 24, 2013 Author Posted June 24, 2013 I don't see where to go to these windows you are showing in your reponses to me Quote
Dadgad Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 The list shown in my screenshots is accessed in newer versions by SYSVDLG command, which stands for system variables dialog. Sadly I do not believe you have access to that command in the 2008 version. The list entitled SYSTEM VARIABLES in the images gives the variable names, such as SNAPUNIT, or SNAPGRIDLEGACY. By entering such a variable name at the commandline, the response will indicate the current system variable value, and you will be given the option to change that setting by entering a new RECOGNIZED and viable system variable value.
