spiker7221 Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I have several departments here that all have their own particular Autocad 2014 settings. I need to give the user rights to set temp overrides for their keyboard short cuts and commands. I guess my questions are: Can I use a custom profile to load different department cui's, tool palettes, workspaces, etc? Do I create a department named CUI and use it as the Enterprise CUI and a company named CUI used as the Main.cui? How do I switch between the different department Tool Palettes, menus, etc? Thanks, Mike in Dallas Quote
tzframpton Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 All this is definitely doable and easy: it's all about networked drive locations. For Tool Palettes and multi-department accessibility, this AU document is great help: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4989089/Images/cadtutor/2013-06-26%20-%20Tool%20Palette%20AU/handout_3441_AC3441_The_Productivity_Power_of_AutoCAD_Tool_Palettes_Revealed.pdf Enterprise CUI is read-only to the end user. Just create a CUI from scratch for your company specific items and add it in, then add it to the Workspace. As far as keyboard shortcuts... I wouldn't do anything with the PGP file location... this should always be user-defined and never "managed". Best thing to do is leave AutoCAD as is. Only "add" the company specific items for people to use... don't be big brother and completely take over. What works best, is promoting the use of accessing content through Tool Palettes. This way people refer to Tool Palettes as the "portal" to accessing approved content versus scouring network directories or worse, an unmanaged version sitting in a folder on their desktop.
