Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I am using AutoCAD 2013 and, out of nowhere, my keyboard aliases don’t work. Ex: When I type m for MOVE, I get MADD. When I type co for COPY, I get COLOR. If I turn off ‘Auto Append’, and try it, I get ‘UNKNOWN COMMAND’. I’m at a loss as to what to do. (I checked to see if I lost the acad.pgp file, but it’s still there.) Looking for suggestions on how to get them back. Thank you. Quote
alanjt Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Autocad could be finding a bad acad.pgp file. Type: (findfile "acad.pgp") in the command line and see what comes up. It should be something like c:\users\\appdata\autodesk\//support Autocad will always load only the first one it finds. Same as the acad.lsp and the acaddoc.lsp Quote
nestly Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Assuming the pgp is where it's supposed to be, try restarting AutoCAD or type REINIT to reload it. Quote
Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Thank you both for replying, but nothing is working. When I type (findfile "acad.pgp"), it says 'nil'. I also tried restarting AC, and typing REINIT and it still isn't working. Any other ideas? Quote
alanjt Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 That's bothersome. Type START then type acad.pgp and see if it opens the file. If not, it's not finding your acad.pgp file. It's either been deleted, or the path is no longer in the support paths. Quote
Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Should I tell you that I am running Windows 7? I find the pgp file in the following path: c:Program Files/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2013/UserDataCache/en-us/Support Quote
nestly Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Perhaps the AutoCAD profile is changed or became corrupt. There may or may not be an alternate profile you can try (Tools > Options > Profiles) to see if the command alias's work with a different profile. Quote
alanjt Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Command: (findfile "acad.pgp") "C:\\Users\\<username>\\appdata\\roaming\\autodesk\\c3d 2011\\enu\\support\\acad.pgp" Quote
Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Type START on the command line? I tried, and a suggestion pops up saying STARTUP. When I just try to type START, I get UNKNOWN COMMAND. (I should add that the geniuses at our main office accessed my computer remotely to attempt to fix an unrelated problem and now I have lost settings in other programs as well, but none are as bothersome as my AutoCAD issues.) Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 I accessed another profile and they still don't work. Quote
Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Is it a dumb idea to delete the pgp file from my computer (maybe it IS corrupted?), then copy the file from another computer to a shared drive, then copy that back to my computer? Quote
Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Can you tell me how to run a repair? I've never done that. Quote

Worth a try. I was actually about to post the pgp from my installation and see if it would work. Check your support paths in options and make sure it still has some available. Quote
alanjt Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Can you tell me how to run a repair? I've never done that. control panel>programs>programs and features>autocad>right-click + uninstall/change>repair IT may have limited your privileges. You should check with them first, just so you don't get in trouble for editing the software. If they screwed it up, let them fix it. Quote
nestly Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I believe "Start" is referring to the Windows Start menu, but I think you already answered the question. Whatever your IT guys did removed the acad.pgp file that your AutoCAD profile accesses. You should have at least 2 acad.pgp files on your computer, one in Program Files > Autodesk.... which you apparently do have, and the one directly accessed by Autocad in Users\\\\appdata.... which appears to be missing. I'm thinking that Windows Restore and/or AutoCAD repair/reinstall may be necessary. Quote

You can access the pgp file from one of the pulldown menus, but it's been years since I've done that and can't remember which one it is. Quote
nestly Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Interesting, about "START"... The PGP file is accessible from Express > Tools > Command Alias Editor Quote

Laurie E Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 I believe you are correct that I am missing the pgp file in the Users path. Is that something I can copy from one computer to another or should I try a repair. (I hesitate to do a System Restore because I'm fairly certain that is one of the things our MIS guys did to mess up my system and I have no idea what date they used.) Quote
