indojo24 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Hi, I need help to set the default template which is loaded when the AutoCAD application is launched. Is there a way to do this? E.g. If I open AutoCAD, the template loaded is acad.dwt. But I want to change the default template to acadiso.dwt. Thanks in advance. Quote
Dadgad Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Welcome to CADTutor. You can set this default for QNEW drawing template on the FILES tab in your OPTIONS. You will find it in the TEMPLATE SETTINGS. Quote

Dadgad Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 My pleasure, down the road you might want to save a custom template. In order to do that you can save any drawing as a .dwt file, in that way your personal default template can have much more than your metric data base units, such as your typical layers, dim styles, text preference set, leader settings, title block, and the list goes on and on. There is no need to reinvent the wheel every time you want to create a new drawing, it is so much more efficient and pleasant to hit the ground running, with all your usual stuff already set up. Of course you may wind up with a number of different custom templates, which is not a problem, just set your QNEW default to whichever one is appropriate at any given time. Quote
