KarolR Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 My part is at an arbitrary angle reliteve to one of the planes and i cannot align the view in a drawing to be horizontal. I try to make a view, in the part file, in which the model will be horizontal, but there isn't any precise input for views. Also, the angle isn't precise. I used the Look At tool to look at one face and all i need now is to rotate the view 90 degrees round one axis, but when i touch the line of the compass in the Constrained Orbit command the view jumps back to some position. Bishop Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Stop making parts at arbitrary angles relative to the planes? Quote
JD Mather Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 When using skeletal modeling techniques (like with the Frame Generator) you can end up with parts at odd angles. There are several ways of resetting a view, but without seeing the file..... One method might be to right click on the glass cube. Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 How about creating a custom view? Create a base view, then click on the icon under the view orientation options in the view dialog. You can now use the 'align to face' tool to orientate your base view. http://autodesk.cadgeekspeak.com/2011/04/inventor-2012-change-view-orientation-something-new/ Quote
KarolR Posted July 8, 2013 Author Posted July 8, 2013 in 2013 i don't find the 'align to face', and the video in the link doesn't work for me. Can you show me in a picture? Quote
ecshclark Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 (edited) I may be wrong, but as far as I know the Rotate at Angle is available only through the Change View Orientation icon when creating a base view in a drawing, and Precise View Rotation in a presentation will allow you to rotate the view (But only in increments of full degrees. That's not very precise in my mind! What about a half of a degree! Why isn't there a way to rotate a view at any increment, at any time? Wish list time?) In a model or assembly create an axis perpidicular to the plane you want to view. Create a plane along the axis. Use "Look At" and select the new plane. In the view cube, reset the view as "Front " or "Top". Now you can rotate the view every 45 or 90 degrees using the view cube. Once you are viewing what you want to see, save a new view in the browser, AND LOCK IT! You can reset back to the Front or Top default view using the view cube, and use your saved view when needed. If you don't Lock your view you will probably overwrite it with another view somewhere along the way. You could also set up a camera view. Edited July 10, 2013 by ecshclark Quote
