Revit System

Hi, I’m new to the Revit Architecture software and am looking at buying a simple second hand pc or laptop to run the 2012 32bit version of Revit solely for the purpose of learning the programme, so I’ll only be doing small basic projects in my spare time at home over the next few months.

I did consider downloading the current 2014 trial version but it only lasts for 30days and I don’t currently have a pc with that version’s requirements to run it on.

Having read the minimum system requirements on the Autodesk website, I’m looking at a basic system consisting of Windows 7 32 or 64bit OS, 2.8 – 3.0Ghz Core 2 Duo or Dual Core processor, 4GB RAM. Minimum hard drive, graphics card, etc. requirements dependent on the systems available.

Does this sound ok for a basic machine to get me started?

Thanks

I installed Revit 2013 at home on my 5 year old laptop with a Core 2 Duo and 4GB of RAM, with a graphics card that was mediocre in its day. Sure, the program opens and runs and all that but whew... it does struggle at times. But it still runs nonetheless.

Also, for the record, the trial version of Revit does not last for 30 days. Saving and printing last for 30 days, after that you still have 100% full use of the program, you just can't save or print anything. It's actually a pretty smart way for a software developer to handle a trial period, because you can still train with the program after the trial period has ended.
