Hello

My printer/plotter selections are missing.

I used to be able to select 2 separate printers and a PDF'ing option but all of a sudden they are missing - can anyone help?

The printers are connected via a network, are visible and usable in Windows and I can print to them from other software packages (word, outlook, etc).

I was away for a week and when I came back they were missing from Autocad (2011LT version 3).

The machine is a dell Precision T5500, Intel Xeon E5507, 4 GB RAM

Windows 7 64 bit SP 1

Thank you in advance

Have you tried switching or resetting your Profile to see if they reappear?

Could it be that AutoCAD lost the "path" to them? I assume they are stored on the network.

BTW...there is no need to double post. We're all volunteers not paid staff so there can be a bit of a wait before a reply is received. And given that activity is typically down in the summer (people out enjoying themselves rather than slaving away) you may have to be a little more patient.

So, no one else where you work has lost these selections?

Thank you for your reply and sorry for the re-post - I'm new-ish on this site and thought the reason I hadn't had any responses was because I had posted it in the wrong category...

Is Profile the same as Workspace?

I think you are right, the "path" is lost - but I don't know why.

No one else has lost these selections

I have tried to add the printers back through the Options dialogue:

Plot and Publish

Add or Configure Plotters button

Add-A-Plotter Wizard

and found the 3 printers under the System Printer button but cannot find my printer files to import.

Please would you let me know whether this is the correct method to "re-path" them.

If it is I can ask our computer guy (who deals with hardware and non-autocad software issues) to work it out from here.

Thank you again

Alright then you get a newbie pass.

No, your Profile is not the same as a Workspace. Profiles are found by going to Options > Profiles tab. There you will see a list of all available Profiles.

Did you check that you have the correct path to the printer? You could check it against the path on one of the other CAD workstations.

Thank you for the pass...and for your reply but there is no Profiles tab in my Options dialogue box - I just searched online and LT doesn't have one...

My colleague's Printer Support File Path leads to the same place as mine ...

I don't want to waste your time any further - I will ask our computer guy to look into this for me

Thank you again for your help.

My mistake for not paying attention to that very important factor. It is one that has tripped me up in the past as well.

You're not wasting my time. Together we are exploring avenues of resolution. However, you are free to do as you feel necessary. Please proceed then at some point come back and update us on your progress. I wish you all success in solving your problem. Good luck.

If I were doing private work - on my own clock so to speak - I would love to continue "exploring avenues of resolution" together but sadly my time is not my own ... currently

Our computer guy says he'll come in tomorrow and re-install my AutoCad - it's a bummer as I'll then have to reset my workspace I think, shouldn't take long though and better than not being able to print.

Thanks again.

Well you know where to find us if things don't go as planned. Once again...good luck.

It could be as simple as unchecking the hide system printers check box in Options, Plot and Publish tab.

so our computer guy reinstalled my Autocad and now all my printer options are visible again.

he's unsure why this happened though says computers are glitchy this way

...

by the way - my "hide system printers" was unchecked - so that wasn't the problem either

thank you again for the support
