turboCAD Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Hello! I have the attached drawing of spiral bevel gears; MBSG2-2040L.dwg it has been taken from this site http://www.qtcgears.com/KHK/newgears/KHK206.html how do I transform it into a 3d structure from that 2d drawing? is all the needed information comprised in it? I can not figure out the shape of the teeth. There is also a 3d version of the gears for autodesk inventor; is there a way I could transform that into an autocad 2011 compatible version (I don't know much about autodesk inventor ). Thank you ! turboCAD Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 there is also a .dxf version which shows an autocad drawing but it is still 2d and I cannot upload it as it is larger than the permitted size Quote

Inventor can be used to save as a dwg 3d solid. Do you have Inventor? If so, what version (in later versions it is Save Copy as type *.dwg). In earlier versions there was a Save as DWG solids I think under Tools or Manage, but don't remember exactly where. Another option in Inventor would be to Save Copy as Type ACIS (*.sat) and then use the acisin command in AutoCAD. Quote
turboCAD Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 save as/Autocad 2010 file worked perfectly ! Thank you very much, again, JD Mather ! I wonder why I did not think of this... Quote
