Layer State changes when restored

When I restore a saved layer state in one viewport the adjacent viewport (with a different saved layer state) changes. I also don’t seem to be able to save these edited layer states so that they retain my edits. Thanks for any input

Make a new layer with the settings you want. If you use the restore command it will change all objects with that layer name back to the original settings.

Not sure if that resolves my issue. When I restore a saved layer state within a viewport, an adjacent or separate viewport with a different layer sate changes that layer state.

When creating a view, save a layer snapshot, as shown in the image.

If you are editing an existing view, choose update layers.
