ColinPearson Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Hello all... I've noticed recently that my Express Tools was completely missing. I got with out IT folks (who suck) and they showed me on the server where the acetmain lived so I could reload them. Sounds good, right? Not so much... some (but not all) of the commands do not work and give be back the "unknown command" when I try them (from either the command line or the menu or the toolbar). I'm going to go crazy if I don't figure out how I can get my MKLTYPE command back. Any thoughts?!? Thanks in advance. Quote
tzframpton Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Express Tools has an optional checkbox at the time of installation. You can run a Repair through Add/Remove Programs and you can install just the Express Tools that way. Very easy and painless procedure. If this isn't a fresh installation and somehow was lost, then type EXPRESSTOOLS at the command line and it should load back in. After that it should stay loaded from here on out. Sometimes in the past, ET's have been known to drop off in the application launch. Quote
ColinPearson Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 I did a repair and then menuload and I can see the toolbars and menus. Some of the commands work, but (of course) the MKLTYPE is the one I really want and it does NOT work. I know I can make linetypes with the text file but I really liked MKLTYPE and got pretty fast with it. FWIW, typing EXPRESSTOOLS at the command line also gives me 'Unknown command "EXPRESSTOOLS"' Thanks! Quote
tzframpton Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 FWIW, typing EXPRESSTOOLS at the command line also gives me 'Unknown command "EXPRESSTOOLS"'Thanks! If this is true then Express Tools hasn't been properly installed. You may be seeing some toolbars and everything, but it's not there. Can you go through the steps on the repair? If you're using MENULOAD then you're not doing it as intended. This should not be the way you install ET's, FYI. Quote
ColinPearson Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Hmmmmm. Okay, I can try, hopefully I get this right... Start>Control Panel to get to AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 > Right click and hit Uninstall/Change > Add/Remove features > Next to keep the content libraries it already had > Click the checkbox for Express Tools > Update. This is where I kind of lose what happened b/c out IT did it on remote. Basically though, acetmain was not living where it was supposed to so our tech said eh put it where the program would need to look for it. Then we fired up CAD and there it was. I guess MENULOAD was actually not involved - sorry - I had tried previously to pull it up that way to no avail. Looks like we put the .cuix called "acetmain" in Program Files > Autodesk > AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 > UserDataCache > Support. Quote
tzframpton Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Then go and see if AcEtAuto.LSP, AcEtMain.mnl, etc. are all loaded into the APPLOAD > Loaded Applications contents. Quote
ColinPearson Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Ok. It's always good when someone can point you WAY into a direction where you were not going and it works I went into the folder where everything was listed in APPLOAD, copied the two files acetmain and acetauto into there just for good measure, then loaded everything in the Express folder. Looks like everything is back. I figured out what I feel like is a very clever solution for some tedious (and critically important) calculations but it all began with MKLTYPE. Thanks so much. StykFacE +1!!! Quote
