janeplain420 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Thank you for the previous answers to my first two posts. Here's my next challenge: Can anyone tell me how to round the corners on a 3d cube? I need it to resemble a piece of square tube steel. Quote
Dadgad Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Welcome to CADTutor. You will want to use the FILLET command. I would suggest choosing an isometric perspective so that you can better see what is being selected. Follow the commandline prompts to specify radius, and which edges you want to radius. Quote
iainlines Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 As an alternative you can draw a square with the relevant radii then use OFFSET to give the desired thickness. Then EXTRUDE both shapes and SUBTRACT the inner from the outer Quote
Dadgad Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Are you trying to model SHS (square hollow section) as shown in the image, or to create radiused edges on a 3D modeled solid cube to approximate the look of this profile? If you want to model the SHS, then lay it out as ian suggested, and easier still, than EXTRUDE and SUBTRACT you can use PRESSPULL, no muss no fuss. Either way would work fine, but this way is easier.
